The Meyiwa family have barred Kelly Khumalo from attending the
Senzo's burial on October 31 on grounds of her illegal affair with the
dead 27 goalkeeper. A Memorial service organized by the South African
government for the Orlando Pirates captain and two other SA athletes who
also passed away in the same week
The shooting incident which led to the death of Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates skipper, Senzo Meyiwa in the home of his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, is soon to become history as the 27 year-old will be laid to rest today
The side chick, Kelly Khumalo,
who shared a child with him, is not allowed in the burial ceremony, as
declared by the head of the Meyiwa family, Senzo’s father
Spokesperson for the family, Siyabonga Meyiwa
explained why the South African pop-star is barred from the ceremony,
citing the illegality of her affair with the goalkeeper who was married
to Mandisa Mkhize Meyiwa with a child, and also the Zulu tradition
South Africans also supported the decision not to allow Ms Khumalo attend the burial
One twitter comment read: ‘’#KellyKhumalo does not have any rights as a girlfriend, family justified
in barring her from #SenzoMeyiwa's burial’’
South
African 800m former World Champion, Mbulaeni Muluadzi and Phindile
Mwelase; a South African female boxer who also died in the week, were
also honoured in the joint memorial held for the three at the Standard
Bank Arena on Thursday, October 30 was also.
The memorial was attended by former South African first lady, Winnie Mandela; Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba; SAFA president, Danny Jordaan and players from the South African league.
The
trio died in three straight days; October 24, 25 and 26. Senzo Meyiwa
will be laid to rest in his hometoen of Umlazi, on Saturday, October 31.
