After diligent prosecution, Justice Ajoku found him guilty on the 5-count amended charge and sentenced him to thirty months imprisonment each of the counts. The court also ordered that the convict forfeit his two (2) phones to the Federal Government.Justice P.I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Benin, Edo State toady convicted and sentenced one Emmanuel Sunday (alias Umoh Sunday Iyang, Iyang Samuel Chukwudi) to seven and half years imprisonment without an option of fine for obtaining money under false pretense.The convict was arraigned by the Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 19, 2014 on an 8-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence. He pleaded not guilty to the count charge.

Pres. Jonathan Assures Investors of Stable Economy Despite Oil Price Instability
President Goodluck Jonathan
on Thursday in Abuja reassured foreign investors and Nigerians that the
economy would remain stable in spite of the slide in global oil prices.
Jonathan gave the assurance when he
received a delegation of General Electric led by its Vice Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer, John Rice, at the Presidential Villa.
He assured his guests that the Federal
Government would do everything possible to stabilise the economy, and
urged the company to maintain its confidence in the country.
“We promise our people that even with
the drop in oil prices, the economy will be stable. We have good
professionals with global outreach.
“I urge you to maintain the confidence
you have in this country before the oil price drop and even expect
better management from us.
“Sometimes, it is when you are challenged that you do better than when everything looks good, sometimes you overlook things.

Nigeria’s Situation is Redeemable says Obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the current economic and security situations in the country are redeemable.
Obasanjo made the observation this at
his Hilltop home in Abeokuta on Thursday when five governors from the
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) paid him a visit.
He said that the country could still be salvaged if those involved had genuine concern for the wellbeing of the citizenry.
He said that his current posture was not to witch-hunt anyone but to find a lasting solution to the nation’s many challenges.

Adidas Finally breaks off with Nigeria football....NFF loses $7millon
German kit manufacturers Adidas has decided not to renew its deal with Nigeria and the Super Eagles.
Futaa.com
reports early today that in August, Adidas had written to the Nigeria
Football Federation, NFF, notifying them of their decision not to renew
the current contract, which expires this month.
The
global merchandise outfit signed a new contract with the NFF on March 6,
2010 and did not state specific reason for pulling out.
Aside
this, Adidas also complained that Nigeria’s coach and some players
violated contractual obligations by wearing a rival’s kit at major
events. With Adidas not renew the contract, Nigeria has lost a deal
worth $7m-a-year, which will increase the problems for the cash-strapped
national teams. The NFF admitted finding a new sponsor is proving hard.
The
Super Eagles have endured a difficult year, with problems both on and
off the pitch damaging their reputation and their results.

Father rapes daughter to the point of death
A 14-year-old girl identified as Uzor, has narrated to a non-governmental agency, Project Alert,
dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of women and young
girls as well as advocating for zero tolerance for all forms of violence
against women and young girls, how her father repeatedly raped her until she almost lost her life.
The
man who lives at 4, Akintunde Street, in Oyingbo area of Lagos State,
allegedly pounced on his teenage daughter and raped her so hard that she
could no longer walk upright.
The victim said
her father raped her on the 4th of December, 2014, at about 6:30am after
she went to live with him. She explained that she had been living with
an aunt after her mother died until her father came to take her away.

Pictures of a gruesome but remarkable effort of a man saving
three shark pups from their dead mother before releasing them into the ocean on
a beach in Cape Town, South Africa as emerged online.
A family found the
deceased mother shark on the beach but noticed there was still movement inside. Realising the animal may have been pregnant, the head of the family, used a
knife to perform a makeshift C-section on the animal, successfully saving three
pups.
